Talk to Your People

We’ve divided our advice into two sections: “What to Say” and “How to Say It.” We recommend reading it all to figure out what will work for your specific situation, whether it’s finding a way to have a series of talks with your husband about trans rights or preparing for Thanksgiving with your in-laws who don’t want affordable housing built in their neighborhood. These conversations are uncomfortable. We hope that the more prepared you are for the conversations, the braver you will be about pushing through that discomfort to have them anyway.
